Articling Student

AIC Global Holdings Inc., under the leadership of Michael Lee-Chin, is pleased to offer an exceptional articling opportunity that seamlessly integrates domestic and international legal spheres. The successful candidate will report to our Senior Legal Counsel and work with other members of the Legal Department. The Articling Student will work on files in the following practice areas: corporate law, commercial law, securities law, real estate, intellectual property, civil litigation, labour & employment law and international law.

Essential Functions

• conduct legal research;
• draft memoranda and other legal opinions;
• draft legal documents, such as by-laws, resolutions, contracts, agreements, and court pleadings or submissions;
• be responsible for the carriage of simple files, appropriate for their level of knowledge and experience;
• provide support to lawyers on different matters relating to the operations of AIC Global Holdings Inc., and the conglomerate of companies;
• accompany lawyers to client meetings, examinations for discovery, and similar events to gain hands-on experience in the practice of law; and
• perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• qualified to commence articling in July, 2024 in accordance with the requirements of the Law Society of Ontario, for a period of ten (10) months.
• excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others;
• strong legal research skills and facility using digital and online reference materials and tools;
• excellent writing skills and the ability to draft clear, concise and persuasive memoranda, pleadings and other legal documents; and
• strong organization and time-management skills and the proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.

Qualifications:

• Completion of LL.B. or J.D. or LSO approved equivalency.
• Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Other articling student eligibility requirements as required by the Law Society of Ontario.
